TP-Link Wifi Extender Setup
TP-Link Wi-Fi Extender setup is useful to expand your router's Wi-Fi signal. You can situate the Wi-Fi extender in places where the router's Wi-Fi signal is weak. In case there are many obstructions like walls and radio waves interference, the router's Wi-Fi signal may not reach the device which you need to connect. You can place the TP-Link extender in such places and can make the Wi-Fi signal strong. Go to the TP-Link web page from your network-connected computer and log in to your TP-Link account to connect to the router network.
Know the IP address of the TP-Link Wi-Fi extender.
Connect your extender to a power outlet and turn it on.
Connect your computer and the TP link extender with an Ethernet cable.
Open an Internet browser on your computer.
Type the extender's IP address in the address bar and start searching.
Choose the Quick Setup tab and set up your necessary preferences.
Wait until the TP-Link extender searches for the router network while following How to Setup Tp-link wifi extender.
Connect to the router's network using the correct SSID and security passphrase.
Customize the Wi-Fi settings as you need.
Click Next to complete the setup process.
How To Setup TP-Link Wifi Extender
Initially, know the IP address of your router. To see the IP address of your router, check the outer surface of the router. If you could not find the IP address using your router, use the cmd prompt to find the same for TP-Link Wifi Extender Setup.
Link your computer to the router's network using an Ethernet cable. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable to the router and the other end to the computer.
Click the Start or Windows icon on your computer and start searching for cmd. Click the Command Prompt option to open it. Type ipconfig/all in the Command prompt and hit the Enter button.
Wait until the command prompt window displays all the IP addresses and gateways on the screen. View the Default gateway row and note down the router's IP address.
Enter the router's IP address in the address bar and press the Enter button. Set up a network SSID and encryption. Stay signed in to the router's account for now.
After setting up a router network connection, plug the TP-Link extender into the power source. Connect your TP-Link extender and computer using an Ethernet cable.
Note the IP address of your TP-Link extender. Launch any browser application. Type http://tplinkrepeater.net in the address bar. If this method does not work out, type http://192.168.0.254 in the address bar and start searching.
Now the Web page loads successfully on the browser screen. Select the Quick Setup option and then click the Next option.
Choose your specific Region or country from the drop-down list and click Next. When you complete the preferences setup process, then begin the network setup.
Now, the TP-Link extender starts scanning for the nearby wireless networks. The searching process might take a few minutes to complete, wait until then.
When the search process completes, click on your router network SSID and type the encryption password, when it prompts, to connect to the network.
Click Next to complete the network setup. If you need a single larger wireless network, click Copy from the main router. To create a different network and personalize, click Customize.
Click the Next option. Take a look at the network settings finally and click finish if all are right.
Allow the TP-Link extender to reboot and to take up the changes. Once the TP-Link extender restarts, it automatically connects to the router's network.
TP-Link Wifi Extender n300 Setup
Turn on your Android or iOS mobile and make sure there is enough power in it to operate.
Go to the Google Play Store app on your Android mobile and download the TP-Link Tether app.
If you are using an iOS device, download the TP-Link Tether app from the App Store.
After the app is successfully installed on your mobile, launch the app.
Locate the + icon on the right corner of the app screen and tap it to start the router setup process.
Tap the router icon and choose the Wireless router option. Follow the setup instructions shown on the screen.
Tap the Connect Hardware option and connect the Ethernet cable between the router and TP-Link Wifi Extender Setup.
Place the router in an open place where there is minimum interference. Keep it away from electronic appliances.
Plug in the modem to a power source using a power adapter. Also, power up your router. Make sure the LED lights near Power, Wi-Fi, and Internet buttons are glowing solid.
Locate default SSID and password of the router on the product label while following How to Setup Tp-link wifi extender.
Go to Settings and navigate to Wi-Fi Settings. Connect to the router's network while proceeding How To Setup TP-Link Wifi Extender.
Navigate to the Tether app and continue with the Setup process. When the I am Connected message appears on the screen, tap it.
Choose your router device name from the list of devices. Log in with the default username and password which is admin.
Tap the Status option and choose the Dynamic IP tab. Change the Dynamic IP to PPPoE.
Select Done. Check the network connection and other network related settings, and then click Save.
TP-Link 500 Wifi Extender Setup
Connect your TP-Link Wifi extender setup to the power source, and press the main switch to supply power to the extender.
Wait until the power LED light starts glowing steadily.
Press the WPS key on your main Router or Access Point.
Press the WPS key on the Range Extender within 2 minutes.
You can create a connection between the Range Extender and Access point only when you follow Steps 3 and 4.
After pressing the WPS key on your wireless router, the LED light near the WPS button should start blinking.
If the LED light near the WPS key on your Router or Access Point does not blink, then you have to push the WPS key again until the light starts flashing.
The above step is also suitable to the Range Extender. The Wi-Fi Protected Setup process will last only for 2 minutes.
Wait for 2 minutes and then examine the wireless signal LED light of your TP-Link extender.
The color of light does not matter. The only thing you have to check is how many signal bars are there. If the wireless signal LED light is ON, then you are connected to the router's network.
If the LED light on the Range Extender is off even after 2 minutes, it means the Wi-Fi Protected Setup failed.
Repeat the above-said steps, until the wireless signal LED starts blinking and the WPS method completes successfully.
Make sure you have placed the Range Extender where it receives at least 50% router Wi-Fi signal.
TP-Link Av600 Wifi Powerline Extender Setup
Connect your Windows computer or Mac to the Range Extender via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
If you are using a Windows computer, open the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser. Launch the Safari browser if you are using Mac computer.
Know the IP address of your Range Extender which is printed on the product label.
If you found the IP address, type it on the address bar. In case you are not aware of that, enter tplinkrepeater.net on the address bar. Press Enter.
When the TP-Link extender's web page opens on the browser display, enter the username and password as admin.
Click Start login to your Range Extender's web-based settings menu.
Click on the Quick Setup tab. Now, your Range Extender starts searching for available wireless networks.
Wait until the scanning process reaches 100%. From the list of available 2.4GHz networks, choose your router's network SSID while following How To Setup TP-Link Wifi Extender.
When you click on your network SSID, enter the encrypted password when it prompts to enter the Host 2.4GHz Password.
Click Next once you enter the password correctly.
Click the Next option again and check the network credentials on the next page while doing How to Setup Tp-link wifi extender.
