Edimax is a wireless router and it is known for its speed and reliability. To set up the Edimax router for the first time, carry out the step-by-step instructions provided on this page to complete the Edimax router setup.

Step 1

  • Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to your modem’s rear port.
  • Plug in the Ethernet cable’s other end into the WAN port of the Edimax router.

Step 2

  • Take another Ethernet cable and connect one of its ends to the LAN port of the router.
  • The Ethernet cable’s other end has to be plugged into the computer’s Ethernet port.

Step 3

  • Launch a computer’s default browser.
  • Now, type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
  • If prompted for login details, type admin in the User Name field. Enter 1234 in the Password field.
  • Click OK in the Authentication Required dialog box.
  • Now, you can access the Edimax router setup page.

Step 4

  • Navigate to the Setup Wizard tab in the left panel.
  • In the main panel, select the Setup Wizard radio button. Click the Run Wizard button.

Step 5

  • If you see any message prompting for connection, click the Next button to proceed.
  • Wait until you see the Please select your internet service type message on the screen.

Step 6

  • Choose the Static IP option.
  • Note: You can even choose the Dynamic IP option from the Please select your internet service type drop-down menu.
  • Fill the following fields with valid details.
  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask
  • Default Gateway
  • MAC Address
  • DNS1
  • DNS2
  • Click the Next option to proceed eith the Edimax router's setup.

Step 7

Once you see the Internet is now connected message on the screen, select the Next option.

Step 8

  • Enter the wireless network name of your choice in the Wi-Fi network name (2.4GHz) field.
  • Type a strong network key in the Wi-Fi Password (WPA2-AES) field. Click Next.
  • Now, you will see the network details on the screen. To confirm these details, select the Next option.

Step 9

Wait until the Congratulation! message is displayed on the screen. This indicates that the Edimax router has been configured successfully.

Step 10

  • Remove the Ethernet cable from the computer’s Ethernet port and the router’s LAN port.
  • Use the router’s wireless network name and password for establishing a wireless connection between the router and computer. Finally finish the Edimax router setup.
