You can connect your computer to a Linksys router over a wireless network or via an Ethernet/compatible network cable. The Linksys router can be configured via its Embedded Web Server page.

Connect Linksys Router To Modem
Here are the guidelines to connect the Linksys router to a modem.
Power off the DSL modem to which you are going to connect the Linksys router. If the DSL modem is connected to the computer, disconnect the network cables.
Attach the Ethernet cable to the Linksys router's Internet port and the computer's Ethernet port.
Take another 'Ethernet' cable and connect it to the Linksys router & DSL modem.
Now, power on the DSL Modem and Linksys router after connecting them to the wall power outlets by using their power cables.
Open a new tab on your computer's web browser and enter the router's IP address. Press Enter.
Go to the Basic Setup option located under the Setup tab and click it. Choose the DSL type from the Internet Connection type drop-down list. You can choose the Automatic Configuration option if you do not know the connection type.
Enter the DSL modem's username and password to connect it to the Internet. Click the Save Settings option. Now, the computer will be connected to the Linksys router
How To Connect A Linksys Wireless Router Without The CD
Here are the guidelines to connect the Linksys wireless router to a computer without a CD.
Go to the manufacturer's official site and click the 'how do I find my model number?' link.
Click the Downloads/Firmware option and then select the device's hardware version.
Select the Linksys router software for your computer's OS and then click the Download option.
Now, the license agreement prompt appears on the screen. Click the Agree option.
Choose a destination folder for the Linksys router software and then wait until it is downloaded.
Double-click the file. The Linksys Connect window opens. Click the license agreement checkbox and then click Next.
The instructions to power on the Linksys router and establish a wired connection appear on the screen. Follow them and then click Next. Wait until Linksys Connect configures the network.
The Linksys Connect application creates a router name and passphrase automatically. If you want to change these details, click on the respective fields and edit them. Click Next.
At this stage, the Linksys Connect application detects the internet connection type and requests you to enter the required details.
Click Next after entering those details. (You can contact the ISP if you do not have these modem details on hand.)
The Linksys Connect application will display the parental controls, router settings, guest access, and devices settings.
Connecting Linksys Router to Comcast Cable Modem
To connect your Linksys router to the Comcast cable modem, follow the instructions given below.
Connect the Linksys router and your Comcast cable modem using the network cable.
After that, connect a network cable between the Ethernet ports of your Linksys router and the computer.
Now, launch the Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox web browser on your PC and type the 192.168.1.1 IP address in the search field.
Press the Enter button on your system’s keyboard.
Now the login screen will appear.
In the User name field, type admin. Enter the same in the Password field.
Click the OK or Login button.
Now you will be directed to the Linksys router setup page.
Choose the Automatic Configuration - DHCP option from the Internet Connection Type drop-down menu.
Enable the DHCP Server option by clicking the Radio button beside it.
Click the Save Settings button. Your Linksys router is connected to the Comcast modem.
IPAD NOT CONNECTING TO LINKSYS ROUTER
In most of the Apple iPad, a wired Ethernet adapter is not provided. So, you can connect your Linksys router to the Apple iPad only through a wireless network. To connect an iPad to your Linksys router over a wireless network, follow the instructions given below.
Before you begin the setup, make sure to collect the details about your wireless network such as SSID, Wireless Security mode, and Security key.
Now, switch on your iPad device and touch the Home button.
Navigate to the Settings menu and tap the Wi-Fi option.
From the list of wireless networks, choose your’s and enter its password in the given field.
Tap the Apply or Join button.
Linksys Router Not Connecting To Internet
To fix the Linksys router not connecting to the Internet issue, perform the troubleshooting instructions given below.
First, check the IP address of your Windows system.
Make sure that the IP address of your computer is valid.
To check the IP address of your Windows system, open the Command Prompt on it and type the ipconfig/all keyword.
Press the Enter button on your computer.
Note down the IP address of your computer displayed on the Command Prompt screen.
Now, check if the issue is resolved.
If the issue remains unresolved, then check the wireless settings of your Linksys gateway.
Go to your Linksys router and click the Wireless tab.
Click the Wireless Security sub-tab and check if the Wireless Network Name Broadcast is Enabled.
If not, then choose the Enable option from the Wireless Network Name Broadcast drop-down menu.
After that, click the Save button.
Check if the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, then check the Browser’s proxy settings.
Check the status of proxy settings. If it is enabled, then disable it by following the instructions given below.
For Mozilla Firefox users:
Launch the Mozilla Firefox on your system and click the Tools tab.
Choose the Options option in the Tools menu list.
Click the Advanced option followed by the Network tab.
Click the Settings button and check if the No Proxy option is enabled.
If enabled, then click the Radio button beside the No Proxy option.
Click the OK button.
For Internet Explorer users:
Open Internet Explorer on your computer.
- Click Tools Internet Options Connections LAN Settings OK.
