To set up the Buffalo Airstation HighPower N300 wireless router for the first time, perform the following simple steps.
Set the mode switch to Auto.
Connect an Ethernet cable's one end to your modem’s rear port.
Plug the Ethernet cable’s other end into the router’s Internet port.
Connect the Airstation N300 router’s power cable to an electrical outlet.
Wait until the router turns on.
Perform one of these methods to connect the router to your computer.
Method 1 - Wired Connection
Connect a LAN cable's one end to the router’s LAN port.
Plug the LAN cable’s other end to your computer’s Ethernet port. Proceed with the below method to perform Buffalo Airstation Highpower N300 router setup through wireless connection.
Method 2 - Wireless Connection
Navigate to the system tray and click the Network icon.
Choose the router’s SSID from the available network names list.
Type the router’s key and click Next or Connect.
Click the Network icon at the top.
Select the Turn Wi-Fi on option.
Search for your network SSID and select it. Enter your network key in the Password field.
Click the Join option.
Check if the Power/Diag, Wireless, and Router LEDs stay lit.
Note: If the Router LED does not turn on, set the mode switch to Router.
Open the Google Chrome browser on the computer that is connected to the Airstation N300 router’s network.
Enter 192.168.11.1 in the address bar.
In the Sign In dialog box, provide the following login details and click Sign in.
Username - admin
Password - password
Click the WAN/LAN tab followed by the Internet tab.
Navigate to the Method of Acquiring IP Address field.
Select the Access an IP address automatically from a DHCP server radio button.
Click Apply to save the settings.
Wait for 10 seconds before you proceed with the next step.
Go to the Wireless tab followed by the Basic Setting tab.
Navigate to the SSID2 field and deselect the Use checkbox.
In the SSID field, select the Enter radio button. Type a new network name for the Airstation N300 router.
Choose WPA/WPA2 mixed mode - PSK from the Encryption drop-down menu.
Enter a new network key in the WPA-PSK (Pre-Shared Key) field.
Scroll down and click the Apply option to save the wireless network settings.
Wait for 20 seconds before you proceed further.
Minimize the Google Chrome browser.
If you are using a wired connection, disconnect the Ethernet cable connected between the Buffalo Airstation N300 router and computer.
Reconnect the router to the computer using a new network name and key.
