Asus Rt-n65u Router Setup

You can easily set up and install the Asus RT-N65U router with its Easy Setup Assistant application. On this page, let's see the procedures to set up the Asus RT-N65U router.

Steps to set up the Asus RT-N65U router:

  • Unpack the product and find the following components inside the package: Network cable (RJ-45), quick installation guide, and warranty card.
  • Place the router in an inclined position. Otherwise, you can wall-mount the router.
  • Before proceeding, ensure that your computer is not connected to any other router.
  • Ensure to turn off your modem and computer. 
  • Discard the backup battery from your modem and proceed with the steps below for router connection.

For wired connection:

  • Connect the router's AC adapter to the DC-port and plug it into a primary power source.
  • Use the network cable that came with the package to connect the router's WAN port to the modem's port.
  • Connect your router's LAN port to your computer's Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable.
  • Insert the modem's AC adapter into the DC-port and plug it into the power outlet.

For wireless connection

  • Connect your router's AC adapter to the DC-IN port.
  • Now, plug it into the electrical outlet.
  • Next, connect your modem to your wireless router.
  • Plug the modem's AC adapter into the DC-IN port and plug it into a power outlet.
  • Install an IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN adapter on your computer.
  • Now, turn ON your modem, router, and computer.
  • Connect your computer to the wireless network of your router.
  • You've now completed the hardware setup of the Asus RT-N65U router.

Configuration setup:

  • On your computer, launch a web browser, type in your router's IP address (192.168.1.1) in the search field, and press the Enter button. 
  • Enter the default login credentials in their respective fields if prompted and click on the OK button. Check on the router's label to identify the default credentials. Otherwise, enter admin as Username and Password.
  • Once you are in the router’s Web GUI, select the Quick Internet Setup (QIS) option and this will guide you through the setup.
  • The QIS will automatically detect your Internet connection type.
  • When prompted, enter the required details.
  • Next, you will have to enter the password for your router.
  • In the next step, enter the SSID and password for your Asus router’s network.
  • Carry out the instructions displayed on the screen and complete the Asus RT-N65U router setup.
