Step 1: Physical Setup
Method 1: Wired Connection
Make sure that your modem, Asus router, and computer are turned off.
Now, connect your computer to the LAN port of your router using an Ethernet cable.
Using another Ethernet cable, connect the modem to the WAN port of your router.
Turn on the modem, router, and computer.
Make sure that the Internet and Power LEDs on your router’s control panel are blinking correctly.
Method 2: Wireless Connection
Make sure that your computer is placed within the range of the router.
Now, connect the modem to the router’s WAN port using a bundled cable.
Connect the modem and router to the AC outlet.
Install the WLAN adapter on your computer if it doesn’t support the Wi-Fi function.
Turn on all the devices and follow the below instructions to complete the Asus RT-N600 router setup.
Step 2: Web-based configuration
From your computer’s web browser, navigate to the router’s web access page using its IP address or URL.
Type the default credentials (username and password) of your router in the given fields and click on the Sign In button.
Your connection type will be detected automatically by the router and the corresponding page will appear on the screen.
For example, if your connection type is DHCP, the page titled Automatic IP connection type will open.
In the given fields, enter the Hostname and MAC address of your connection and click on the Next button.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the router setup.
For PPPoE, PPTP, and L2TP, type your connection’s user name and password in the given fields.
Make sure to enter the credentials correctly.
Click on the Next button after entering the credentials.

Now, the SSID of the networks available within your computer’s range will be displayed on the screen.
Choose your Asus router’s network name.
