Keep the following points in mind while positioning your router.
Place your wireless router in a centralized area.
The router must be far away from metal obstructions and direct sunlight.
Make sure the router is not placed closer to 2.4GHz computer peripherals, Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, refrigerators, and microwave ovens.
Position the two external antennas in the correct direction.
After you position the router, proceed with the Asus RT-AC55U router setup.
Your computer must meet the following requirements.
Ethernet RJ-45 port
IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless capability
TCP/IP service installed
Supported web browser - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome
1.Router hardware setup
Insert the AC power cord into your router’s DC-IN and a power outlet.
Use the network cable to establish a connection between the router’s LAN port and your computer’s Ethernet port.
Take another Ethernet cable and plug it into the router’s WAN port and your modem’s rear port.
Connect the modem’s AC adapter to a power outlet.Ensure that the router and modem are powered up.You have now completed the hardware setup of the Asus RT-AC55U router.
2. Quick Internet Setup (QIS)
Open a supported browser on your computer that is connected to the router’s network.
In the address field, type your router’s default IP address (192.168.1.1). Press Enter.
When the router's login page appears, enter admin in the User name and Password fields.
Click the OK button.
Wait until the wireless router detects your ISP connection type. Depending on the detected connection type, carry out one of these instructions.
DHCP - Click MAC Clone to clone your MAC address. Select the Next option.
PPPoE, PPTP, and L2TP - Enter the information provided by your ISP in the User Name and Password fields. Click Next.
Static IP - Fill in all the required details and click the Next button.
Once done with the ISP type settings, continue with the following steps to set up the Asus RT-AC55U router.
Under the 2.4GHz - Security section, navigate to the Network Name (SSID) field and assign a new network name. Enter a new network key in the Security Key field.
Likewise, assign a network name and security key for a 5GHz connection.
Save the wireless network settings by clicking the Apply button.
To confirm the wireless settings, click the Next button.
